The present paper proposes to expound and examine the basic objectives of education as available in the Vedic sources, mainly the four Vedic Saṁhitās. Veda is held to be śruti, i.e., directly heard by the disciple from the mouth of his preceptor, so it also incorporates the idea of guru-śiṣya relationship in Vedic philosophy of education and signifies an integral approach towards the around development of an individual seeker under the able and immediate guidance of an enlightened seer.

The present paper is case studies of kāraka analysis of problematic kāraka situations of the following types – • clipped sentences like ‘gṛham’ (in ‘bhavān kutra gacchati ? gṛham) • bigger noun phrases like sequences of adj1 adj2… adjn N with same vibhaktis (as in sundaraḥ suśīlaḥ nipuṇaḥ ca bālakaḥ) -> identifying the kāraka in bālakaḥ only and not in other adjectives is a problem because we do not store nouns in the lexicon • identifying lexical semantics and kārakas based on them (for example, the rule ‘gati buddhipratyayavasānārthaśabdakarmākarmakāṇāmaṇikartā sa ṇau’[P 1.4.52] says that a particular kāraka will apply in the sense of these words) • identification of abhihita and anabhihita (expressed and un-expressed) • identification of the locus of the verb • identification of the sense of tādarthya kārakas play an important role in formation and analysis of sentences. Without complete analysis of kāraka, a sentence can not be analyzed. Analysis of Sanskrit sentences at both syntactic and semantic levels together through a computational model is challenging. By evolving a mechanism for kāraka interpretation of complicated Sanskrit sentences, the authors here present a case for using such systems for Sanskrit to Indian languages Machine Translation (MT). The overall aim is to test the algorithm on potentially problematic sentences to see if there is a need to further tuning the algorithm. This system is based on Pāṇini and Kātyāyana kāraka formulations

भारतीय संस्कृति के सम्यक् परिशीलन के लिए पुराणों का अध्ययन अत्यावश्यक है। पुराण अपनी विविधविषयगूढता के कारण सदैव प्रासंगिक रहे हैं। पुराणज्ञान न केवल लौकिक विषयों की मीमांसा में अपेक्षित है अपितु वैदिक साहित्य के परिज्ञान में भी महत्त्वपूर्ण सिद्ध होता है। अत: महाभारत में कहा गया है- इतिहासपुराणाभ्यां वेदं समुपबृंहयेत्।[1]. अष्टादश पुराणों में स्कन्दपुराण शैवपुराणों में परिगणित है। स्कन्दपुराणीय सूतसंहिता भी अपनी दार्शनिक सुस्पष्टता के कारण पुराणसाहित्य में विशेष स्थान रखती है। सूतसंहिता में प्रतिपादित शैवदर्शन के तत्त्वों पर प्रस्तुत शोधपत्र में चिन्तन किया गया है ।
